Though Charles may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Charles touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Percy Cotton and Lucile Cotton; and his siblings, Peggy Cotton Malone and Percy Cotton (Scotty). He is survived by: his wife Carol Cotton; his daughters, Darlene Cotton Robinson, Denise Jeffreys Tubbs (Ricky), Michelle Cotton Drummond (Pat), Jeanne Jeffreys Busby (Joel), Patricia Cotton Ressler and Charla Cotton Thomas (Chris); and his sister Gayle Cotton Murphy (John). He is also survived by 28 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 2 great great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Thursday, November 6th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Ridout's Gardendale Chapel (2029 Decatur Hwy, Gardendale, AL 35071). A celebration of life was held on Thursday, November 6th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Oakwood Memorial Gardens (2100 Moncrief Rd, Gardendale, AL 35071).
