She was predeceased by: her husband William F. "Sonny" Nelson; her parents, Richard Horton and Mildred Horton; and her siblings, Houston Horton and Bebe Broadhead.

She is survived by: her son Christopher Shaun Nelson (Keeli) of Gardendale; and her grandchildren, Emma Nelson, Carter Nelson, Olivia Nelson and Seth Nelson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
