It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sparks Freeman Jr. of Gardendale, Alabama, who passed away on March 3, 2023, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Sparks Freeman and Willie Rimel Freeman; his former wife Virginia Smith Freeman; his sisters, Letha Mae Boren (Alton), Imogene Miner (Pruitt) and Martha Sue Mahaffey (Bobby); his brother-in-law Talmadge Smith (Bud); and his niece Nelda Boren Freeman.
He is survived by: his children, Melissa Freeman Jett (Billy) of Chelsea and Sparks Freeman III (Buzz) of Trussville; his granddaughter Shelby Laine Freeman of Virginia; his sister-in-law Tavia Smith of Cullman; his nieces and nephews, Heidi Walker (Ricky), Anita Carol McCroskey (Steve), Mitchell Smith (Sheila), Hal Miner (Robin) and Keith Mahaffey (Ann); his wife Mavoline Glaze Freeman; his stepchildren, Van Glaze (Penny) of Birmingham and Brenda Glaze of Pelham; and his stepgrandchildren, Taylor Glaze (Katy) of Vestavia and Kendall Glaze of North Carolina.
