He was predeceased by: his parents, William Belton and Jessmer Nelson; his wife Mary Ann McGinnis Nelson; and his sister Ruby Nell Scrivner. He is survived by: his brothers, Lawrence Nelson (Cheryl), William A. Nelson and James R. Nelson (Kim); his stepson Bobby Joe McGinnis, Jr. (Marquetta); and his great grandchildren, Regan, Zack and McKenna Jo. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 20th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Faith Baptist Church (7175 AL-35, Gaylesville, AL 35973). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, May 20th 2025 at 1:00 PM and at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Tuesday, May 20th 2025 at the Moseley Cemetery (2350 County Rd 15, Gaylesville, AL 35973).
