He was predeceased by : his wife Kris; his siblings, Edna Spann and Willie Ray Godwin; his nephews, Ricky Kelley and Jeffrey Wayne Godwin; and his great-niece LaQuita Kelley.

He is survived by : his sons, Daniel Ray, Michael and Nathan Godwin; his stepdaughter Kassie Young (David); his grandchildren, Jayce Godwin, David Hopper, Jr., Davian Hopper and Dawson Hopper; his siblings, Barbara Godwin (James), Travis Godwin and Terry Godwin (Diana); his aunt Fran Landers (Bob); his nieces and nephews, Susan Schofield (Frankie), April Tenore, Shelby Wayne Spann (Michele) and Matthew Godwin; and his mother-in-law Joyce Wollam. He is also survived by numerous great nephews, great nieces and cousins.
