We announce the death of Audrey Rebecca Wimberley (Gilbertown, Alabama), born in Silas, Alabama, who passed away on October 11, 2026, at the age of 86. Audrey will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Audrey will be remembered for the impact she had on the lives of those around her. Friends, family, and colleagues will cherish their memories and the time shared. Those who knew Audrey will remember moments of kindness, warmth, and presence. Though words cannot fully capture her life, the legacy of connections and experiences remains. Audrey’s absence will be deeply felt by those who valued her companionship.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Beatrice Brown Wimberley and Claude Gibson Wimberley; and her brother Claude Brown Wimberley. She is survived by: her nephew Ronny Wimberley (Shanan Cox); her nieces, Kerry Fountain (Mike) and Debo Ball (Charles); her great-nephews, Layne Fountain and Christian Cunningham; and her close friend Tracy Whigham.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Phillips Funeral Home (116 Main St, Gilbertown, AL 36908). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
