He was predeceased by: his parents, William Kirk Byars, Sr. and Ella Mae House Byars; his siblings, Bobby Ray Byars, Bennie Sue Byars Mitchell and Betty Jean Byars Fair; his great grandchild Aiden Heath Byars; and his brothers-in-law, Jeff Mitchell and Jimmy Garner.
He is survived by: his wife Rosie Louise Patchen Byars; his sons, William Kirk Byars (Billy), Kenny Ray Strickland of Kennedy and Kent Strickland (Susie) of Fayette, Alabama; his granddaughters, Kelsea Michele Strickland Byars (Heath) of Fayette, Emily Paige Byars of Huntsville and Anna Katherine Byars (Peyton Kuhlers) of Chapel Hill; his great grandchild Hayden Heath Byars; his sisters, Billie Mae Byars Hall of Gordo and Bonnie Faye Byars Garner of Gordo; and his brothers-in-law, Mack Fair of Gordo and Gerald Hall of Gordo.
