He was predeceased by : his parents, William R. Layne and Frances H. Layne; and his son Robert Alan Layne. He is survived by : his wife Carol Layne; his daughter Michelle Isbell (Ricky); his grandchildren, Jessica Isbell, Fayth Layne and Russ Isbell; and his sister Betty Jo Putnam.

Visitation was held on Monday, April 22nd 2024 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Berryhill Funeral Home & Crematory (2305 Memorial Pkwy NW, Huntsville, AL 35810). A funeral service was held on Monday, April 22nd 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A committal service was held on Monday, April 22nd 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens (2601 Florence Blvd, Florence, AL 35630).
