He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Ernie Ferguson and Opal Johnson Ferguson; and his brother Jeff Ferguson (Bodeen). He is survived by: his wife Wanda Chandler Ferguson of Hartselle; his sons, Shaun Ferguson of Hartselle and Zachary Ferguson (Casey) of Hartselle; his siblings, Jerry Ferguson (Jane) of Warrior and Jennifer Wiggins Gilmer (David); and his grandchildren, Owen Amazan, Paxton Ferguson and Jude Ferguson.

In Lieu of flowers. Memorials may be made to Children Hospital in Birmingham, AL.

“I was so sad to learn of Byron's passing. I pray for the repose of his soul and peace for his family. What a loss for the archery community. I looked up to him for so long and in the mid-2000's I had the opportunity to shoot an exhibition with him two years in a row. What a gentleman and he was so helpful and encouraging. They say never meet your heroes but I am so grateful to have finally met Byron. Shooting alongside him was a dream come true. God bless.”
