He was predeceased by: his parents, John Vol Sims and Margaret Marie Freeman Sims; his wife Catherine Ann Sims; his son John Dunaway Sims; and his brothers, Johnny and Jackie Sims.
He is survived by: his son George William Sims, II; his sister Rose Marie Ellis Luann (Joel); his grandchildren, Matthew Chunn (Kimberly), Will Ellis, Sarah Terry (Jay), Andrew Sims, CeCe Sims and Catherine Sims; and his great grandchildren, Alliee Chunn, Laikelyn Chunn, Brooks Wallace and Keaton Terry.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to the First Methodist Church of Hartselle, Alabama- Good Samaritan Fund.
