He was predeceased by: his parents, Horace Lyle Roberts and Elizabeth Burleson Roberts; his siblings, David and Eleanor McCord; and his wife Sara Ann Mattox Roberts.

He is survived by: his children, Matt Roberts (Haley) and Wendy Roberts Bailey (Gary); his grandsons, Garrett Bailey, Hunter Bailey (Madeline), Jackson Roberts, Landon Terry (McKenzie) and Rhett Roberts; and his great grandchildren, Cal, Carrington, Slayden, Campton, Garrett Bailey, Hunter Bailey, Jackson Roberts, Jacob Roberts, Van Glascock, Jeffery Orr and Will Powell.
