She was predeceased by : her parents, Ernest Marvin Smith, Sr. and Nannie Bell Robison; her former life partner George Franklin "June" Hovis, Jr.; and her daughter Brenda Hovis Spencer. She is survived by : her husband James Durham; her son Bryant Hovis (Kelly); her son-in-law David Spencer; and her sister Dot Putman.
