With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Foster Butch Tate of Hazel Green, Alabama, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on June 17, 2025 at the age of 82. As we bid farewell to this luminous soul, let his loved ones carry forward the torch of his memory, illuminating the path ahead with the warmth of his love and the brilliance of his spirit. Though Foster Butch may journey beyond the horizon of our sight, his essence remains woven into the very fabric of our being — a guiding light in the darkness, a beacon of hope in the night.
He was predeceased by: his parents, James Tate and Mary Ellen Tate (Nix); and his son-in-law Terry Ray Sullivan. He is survived by: his wife Jo Ann Balch Tate; his daughters, Kimberly Jo Sullivan and Coco Tate Crutcher (Jeremy); his grandchildren, Cameron Sullivan, Cody Sullivan, Tate Hughes, Millie Crutcher and Jett Crutcher; and his brother James Raye Tate (Shirley). He is also survived by many extended family members and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 18th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Hazel Green Funeral Home (13921 US-231, Hazel Green, AL 35750). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 19th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
