He was predeceased by: his parents, James B. Tate and Ellen Tate; his brother Foster Wayne "Butch" Tate; his daughters, Kara Padilla and Rina Padilla; and his grandsons, James Kruft and Matthew Madden.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Tate; his son Larry; his daughter-in-law Connie Tate; his daughters, Susan Tate and Tina Padilla; his grandchildren, Allen Tate (Julie), Ashley Swaim (Kevin), Kenneth Madden (Shaydra Langham) and Carletta Flores; and his sister-in-law JoAnn Tate. He is also survived by his 11 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Hazel Green Funeral Home (13921 US-231, Hazel Green, AL 35750). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 at 11:30 AM at the same location.
