He was predeceased by : his parents, Essie Mae Britt Alewine and A. D. Newton Alewine; his sister Phyllis; and his brothers-in-law, Roger Tuggle and Travis Richardson.

He is survived by : his girlfriend Joyce Kelly; his children, Tina Welcher (Leon), Christopher Alewine (Mary Ellen) and Bert Kelly (Jessica); his grandchildren, Logan Welcher (Heather), Austin Alewine (Sydney) and Brianna Thornton (Matt); his great grandchildren, Macy Grace Alewine and Remington Colt Welcher; and his siblings, Kenneth Alewine (Gina), Jimmy Wayne Alewine (Lawana), Mark Alewine and Sue Richardson (Jimmy Kemp). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and other lifelong family members, friends and coworkers.
