He was predeceased by: his former wife Evelyn Wilks; and his parents, Farrell Wilks and Varita Wilks. He is survived by: his wife Phyliss Wilks; his stepchildren, James Hammonds (Faye), Paulette Waters (Jerry), Rodney Hammonds (Becky) and Shane Hammonds (Stephanie); and his sisters, Sue Austin (Dewayne) and Patsy Highfield. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 26th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, June 27th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Lee's Chapel Church (328 Lees Chapel Rd, Henagar, AL 35978). A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 27th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location.
