He was predeceased by: his parents, Elbert Thurmond and Gladys Thurmond; his son Glen Thurmond; and his siblings, Buna Lacy and Paul Thurmond.
He is survived by: his children, Gerald Thurmond (Patricia), Anthony Thurmond (Elaine), Gary Thurmond (Debra) and Karon Patrick (David); his sister Bettye Guffey; and his great grandchild Janice Thurmond. He is also survived by 11 Grandchildren.
