With heavy hearts, we announce the death of John P. Akin of Hokes Bluff, Alabama, who passed away on April 20, 2024 at the age of 72. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of John P. Akin to pay them a last tribute.

He was predeceased by : his son Michael David Akin II; his parents, James Akin and Delite Akin; his siblings, Jim Akin, Mike Akin, Bill Akin and Patricia Morris; his brothers-in-law, Jim Young and Roy Dale Morris; and his niece Delite Carnell.

He is survived by : his wife Ellen Akin; his children, Julie Akin and Matt Akin (Sandra); his grandchildren, Ty Ford (Sarah), Taylor O'Malley (Patrick), Trevor Ford (Hannah), Dylan Akin and Brett Akin (Anne-Marie); his great grandchildren, Saylor Ann Ford, John Tyler Ford, Charlie Ford, Nora O'Malley, Piper O'Malley, Scottie Ford, Bennett Akin, Sadie-Grace Akin and Griffin Akin; his sisters-in-law, Tami McGee, Marion Akin and Marie Akin; and his nephews, Rod Morris, Sean Akin and Will Akin.

Visitation was held on Monday, April 22nd 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Hokes Bluff Funeral Home (1901 Piedmont Cutoff, Gadsden, AL 35905). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 23rd 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
