He was predeceased by: his parents, Alonza Grady Smith, Jr. and Merle Butts Smith; and his brother Terry Smith. He is survived by: his wife Jane Grimes Smith; his son Grady DeVon Smith, Jr. (Julia); his grandchildren, Grady Jeremiah Smith, Richard Josiah Smith, Mary Elizabeth Jane Smith and Timothy Lewis Smith; his brother Tommy Smith (Marilyn); and his nieces and nephews, Jill Cain (Chris), Joni Jones (Justin), Gareth Smith (Chandra), Travis Smith (Marie), Glenn Ireland (Lynn), Trey Ireland (Margaret) and David Ireland (Michelle).
