Jean Holt Obituary
We announce the death of Jean Holt of Hoover, Alabama, who passed away on October 20, 2026, at the age of 92. Jean will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Margaret Lynch Overmeyer and John Bower Overmeyer; her husband John Arthur Holt; her brother Jack Overmeyer of Tyler; her son-in-law Jeffrey Hunter Travis; and her grandson Jason Hunter Travis.
She is survived by: her children, Claire Travis Muir (Loring), Mike Holt (Mary), Jenifer Tarrant, Jim Holt (Kelly), Bryan Holt (Lynn), Julie Christopher (Stephen) and Ted Holt (Shannon); and her brother Bob Overmeyer of Mobile. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 30th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church (1728 Oxmoor Rd, Homewood, AL 35209). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, October 30th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Seminarian Education Fund, Diocese of Birmingham in Alabama, John Carroll Catholic Educational Foundation, or Comunita Cenacolo America.
