He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Gaffney and Viola Gaffney; his siblings, Bob Gaffney and Catherine Garner; and his daughter Debbie Badaloni.

He is survived by: his children, Shelly (Mike Kaminsky), Bob Gaffney, Kellie (Rick Vanfleet) and John Gaffney; and his grandchildren, Joe, Jackie Badaloni, Megan Shimer, Brian Kaminsky, Chris, Jenna, Caitlin Gaffney, Mollie, Maggie, Rickie, Rylie Vanfleet and Caden Gaffney. He is also survived by Several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins.
