Wallace Richard Barnett Obituary
Wallace Richard Barnett, 93, of Hoover, Alabama, went to be with his Lord on March 18, 2026. He was a loving husband and father to his family. He was born in Jackson, Michigan in 1932, son of Claude and Genevieve Barnett. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Joanna Knauf Barnett, a brother, Mr. Jack Barnett (Jewel) and a sister, Mrs. Nola Jane Betzner (Jim), and his granddaughter, Miss Emily Elizabeth Barnett.
Surviving are his three children, Mrs. Linda Barnett Thomas (David), Miss Elaine Joan Barnett, and Mr. Brian Matthew Barnett (Marion), and his grandchildren, Mr. Cameron Barnett (Abagayle), Mrs. Olivia Barnett Jarratt (Beau), and Mr. Daniel Barnett, and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Mr. Keith Smith and Mr. Don Barnett.
Mr. Barnett was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He served his country with honor, receiving the Bronze Service Star, the National Defense Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, and the Korean Service Ribbon. He was employed most of his career at Griffin Wheel Company in Bessemer, Alabama, and later worked for Graham and Company in Birmingham. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Hoover and had a special heart for evangelism, helping others in need, and he loved serving his church.
Local arrangements are being conducted by W.E. Lusain Funeral Home & Crematory in Hoover. A memorial service will be held March 25 at 2:00 PM at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo with interment following. The service will be conducted by Rev. Eric Roberts.
