We are sad to announce that on January 9, 2026, at the age of 90, John Otis Hunter of Houston, Alabama passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Bryan Hunter and Myrtie Hunter; and his brother Frank Hunter. He is survived by: his wife Betty Hunter; his children, Susan Strickler (Howard), Carl Hunter (Rita) and Jonathan Hunter (Karen); his grandchildren, Kyle Hunter (Laura Ruth), Hunter Strickler (Lauren), Megan Hunter Williams (Ike), Martin Strickler (Carrie), Clay Hunter (Mallory), Jonathan Hunter, Hayden Hunter and Bryan Hunter; and his great grandchildren, Haleigh Strickler, Brooke Strickler, Claire Strickler, Maggie Strickler, Anna Strickler, Emily Strickler, Jack Williams, Hunter Williams, Eliza Hunter and Houston Hunter.
Visitation was held on Monday, January 12th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Nichols Funeral Home - Double Springs (25714 AL-195, Double Springs, AL 35553). A funeral service was held on Monday, January 12th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alabama Veterans Memorial Foundation.
