He was predeceased by: his wife Carol; his parents, Kenneth Arthur McLaughlin and Tera Mae McLaughlin; his brother John Kenneth McLaughlin (Carol Matthews McLaughlin); and his granddaughter Angel McLaughlin.
He is survived by: his children, Patrick Wayne McLaughlin (Mamie), Amy McLaughlin Smithey (David) and Lucas Daniel McLaughlin (Kristi); his grandchildren, Madison Marie McLaughlin (Pat), Laren Grace Smithey, Matthew Nicholas Smithey, Charles Arthur Smithey (Amy), Madelynn Mae McLaughlin and Alexander Daniel McLaughlin (Luke); and his sisters-in-law, Judy Cornett McLaughlin and Gail Matthews Dyer (Richard). He is also survived by nephews and nieces.
