He was predeceased by: his parents, Prince Mathews and Myrtle Simpson Mathews; his siblings, Prince Mathews Jr. and Louise Roubdioux; and his brother-in-law Jimmy Keller.
He is survived by: his sister Edna Ruth Keller; his wife Jeanette Mathews; his sons, Wayne Mathews (LaBron Mathews) and David Mathews (Jessica Mathews); his grandson Dylan Mathews; and his sister-in-law Sybil Nash. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, September 22nd 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Peoples Chapel Funeral Home (195 Brooklane Dr, Hueytown, AL 35023). A memorial service was held on Monday, September 22nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
Memorial donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Alzheimer's Association and Pro Health Home and Hospice.
