John Keytack wrote a sympathy message

“Vann was one of my best friends growing up. I can still remember being over at his house all the time. His parents and sister and brother were always good to me. They treated me more like family, than a friend. Vann's mom would have him invite me for Sunday dinner frequently. She made the best pot roast! Sometimes in the afternoon, or evening we would play board games. When we were both going to Jeff State we rode together. He was what the Bible called a friend that is closer than a brother.”
