He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Gutshall and Alice Gutshall. He is survived by: his wife Karen Gutshall; his children, Stephen Gutshall and Melanie Nicosia (Joe); his stepchildren, Christie Lang (Quentin) and Tim Tankersley; his grandchildren, Jack, Thomas, Lexi, Tyler, Michael, Sarah Beth and Sammy; and his siblings, Denny Gutshall, Mark Gutshall (Carolyn), Carolyn Frishkorn (Frank), Vicki Minnick (Kevin), Andrea Bittendender (David) and Teresa Weary (Brandon). He is also survived by 9 nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to "Friends of Sharon Johnston Park" (783 Coleman Road, New Market, AL 35761).
