He was predeceased by: his parents, Goo Taek Chung and Hae Sook Kim. He is survived by: his sister Hyung Bok Chung; his wife Wharan Kim Chung; his children, Arleen (Panos) and Jason; and his grandchildren, Stella, Peter, Theo Sechopoulos, Jason Jr. and Jeb Chung. He is also survived by nieces and nephews and other extended family.
Visitation was held on Saturday, September 27th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Laughlin Service Funeral Home (2320 Bob Wallace Ave SW, Huntsville, AL 35805). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 27th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
Renowned for his profound contributions to the field of engineering and physics, Dr. Chung began his academic journey as an instructor at the Korea Military Academy from 1954 to 1959, and later advanced his studies at Oklahoma State University, where he obtained an MS in applied mechanics and a PhD in Soil Mechanics.
