He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Eugene and Martha Jo Jenkins Franklin; his son Lonnie Franklin; and his siblings, Pam Franklin Kilgore, David Franklin and Denis Franklin.
He is survived by: his wife Ila Bernice Clark Franklin; his sons, Dexter Franklin Jr. (Michelle) and Christopher Lee Franklin (Pat); and his grandchildren, Andy Franklin (Gwen), Zachary Franklin, Logan Franklin, Josh Franklin (Robin) and Amanda Franklin. He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
