He is survived by: his daughters, Dr. Gwen Pernell of Birmingham and Rose; his brothers, Mack L. Pernell (Eloise) of Jackson and Dr. Eugene Pernell (Yvonne) of East Lansing, Mich.; his grandsons, Xavier Haynes (Yolanda) of Central Islip, N. Y. and Keenan Haynes (Yolanda) of Palm Bay, Fla.; his siblings' children, Douglas Pernell Jr. of Jackson and Dr. Joycelyn Henderson (Walter) of Milwaukee, Wisc.; his great-niece Charlotte Moore (Michael) of Jackson; and his cousin Dorothy Henderson. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren, cousins, many nieces and nephews, and many devoted friends.
