He was predeceased by: his parents, Manley Hess and Oris Hess; his great grandchild Elise Jones; and his siblings, Manley Hess, Charles Hess and Mary Ann Haynie.
He is survived by: his wife Debbie Sprayberry Hess; his daughters, Jessica Cobb (Derek) and Stacie Ross (Jim); his grandchildren, Caroline Cobb, Jay Michael Cobb, Kyle Daugherty (Kim) and Katelyn Chandler (Allen); his great grandchildren, Kennedy Carlisle and Emersyn Jones; and his sisters, Doris Prickett (Joel), Ada Nolan and Mary Hess.
