He was predeceased by: his parents, Basil Duke Owens, Sr. and Susan Humphreys Owens; his wife Rose Adelia McMakin; and his son Basil Duke "Chip" Owens III. He is survived by: his son David B. Owens (Elizabeth) of Jasper, Alabama; and his grandchildren, Adelia Rose Owens, Mary Ellis Owens and David B. Owens, II. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
