He was predeceased by: his father Cleo Preston Caldwell; his sister Shelia Louise Williams; and his grandparents, Gilbert Vest, Valcie Vest and Eva Caldwell.

He is survived by: his mother Ida Louise Vest Caldwell of Jasper; his siblings, Phyllis Woodard (Ronnie) of Jasper and Dennis Caldwell of Jasper; his nephews, James Nathan Woodard (Serena) of Gardendale and Jason Woodard (Nicole) of Warrior; his uncle Bob Vest; his aunts, Susy Vest and Leatha Chandler; his niece Jennifer Blalock (Jason) of Warrior; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Dakota Woodard, Aiden Woodard, Noah Woodard, Jackson Woodard, Hayley Blalock, Kaitlin Blalock, Lacey Woodard, Juliet Woodard and Lots; and his caregiver Deeandrea.
