He was predeceased by: his mother Anna Paula Brown; his sister Betty; his brother-in-law Frank Walker; and his mother-in-law Mary Ella Thompson (Henry Boswell). He is survived by: his wife Pamela Jean Brown; his sons, James Lester Brown, Jr. (Tessa), Richard Nathaniel Brown (Carissa), John Ivan Rutledge (Dani) and Ross Franklin Rutledge; his grandchildren, Camden, Maryella, Andee, Colton, Brantley and Kyleigh; his father Lester "Bud" Brown; and his sisters, April Samuelson (John), Wendy Brown and Amanda Woodard (Donnie). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
