Janis leaves behind cherished memories for friends, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Janis’s life was marked by connections and experiences that touched those around her. Though she is no longer with us, the moments shared, the laughter, and the support she offered will continue to resonate. All who knew Janis will carry forward her memory in their hearts.
She was predeceased by: her parents, J. C. Lewis and Olga Mae Rye Lewis; and her sister Kitty Jackson. She is survived by: her husband Steve Wilson of Jemison; her children, Christy Millard (Andy) of Jemison, David Wilson (Amy) of Birmingham and Charity Waldrep (Michael) of Wedowee; and her siblings, Sondra Ivey (Val) of Birmingham and Wesley Lewis (Lydia) of Tuscaloosa. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 25th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Union Grove Baptist Church (11501 Co Rd 51, Jemison, AL 35085). A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 25th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be directed to CareNet Pregnancy Resource Center of Chilton County, an organization especially dear to Janis's heart and one to which she devoted so much of her time and love.
