He was predeceased by : his parents, Lloyd Smith and Clara Smith; his wife Elaine Smith; his son Tim Smith; and his brothers, Curtis Smith and Edward Smith.

He is survived by : his sons, Ricky Smith (Leslie) and Kevin Smith; and his siblings, Betty Whatley, Bill Smith (Glenda) and Larry Smith (Tammy). He is also survived by 7 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren.
