In the sacred silence of farewell, Mary Evelyn is released into the embrace of eternity, knowing that her light will continue to shine brightly in the tapestry of the lives of her loved ones. And as her memory is carried forward, may comfort be found in the knowledge that love is eternal, and that Mary Evelyn's spirit lives on in the beauty that surrounds us.
She was predeceased by: her son Phillip Wade Thornton. She is survived by: her husband Albert Eli Thornton; her children, Terry Dale Thornton (Becky) and Marsha Lynn Thornton; and her sister Freda McGee (Don). She is also survived by six grandchildren, five great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, July 8th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Greenhill Funeral Home (8450 US-43, Florence, AL 35634). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, July 8th 2025 at 1:00 PM and at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts of donation in her memory be made to Rainbow Omega, Inc. or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
