He is survived by: his wife Susan Comer Stokes; his children, Michael Stokes Pate, Melody Stokes and Lisa Stokes; his sister Frances Stokes Gill; and his stepchildren, Shana Paige Hammond, Chad Eric Hammond (Stacy), Kyla Jill Warden (Billy) and Bree Ashton Hammond. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
