He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude J. Franklin, Jr. and Shirley A. Franklin; and his daughter Jill Screws. He is survived by: his wife Marie Franklin; his daughter Mandy J. Cox (Garland); his son-in-law Robert "Fob" Screws; his grandchildren, Micah Screws, Garland Hudson Cox and Erin Screws; and his sister Linda Martinez (Leno).

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the St. Clair County High School Band.
