He was predeceased by: his parents, Lelas Albert Schmitt and Ora Lee Schmitt; his wife Jean Beverly Schmitt; his son Adam Neil Schmitt; and his brothers, Gene and Dennis.
He is survived by: his children, Dr. Kim Schmitt and Dr. Lee Schmitt; his grandchildren, Alexandra Dupuis, Payton Schmitt and Cooper Schmitt; and his great grandchildren, Sawyer and Clay Dupuis.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 25th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Kilgroe Funeral Home (1750 Ashville Rd, Leeds, AL 35094). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 25th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Wednesday, June 25th 2025 at the Forest Crest Cemetery (5730 US-78, Birmingham, AL 35210).
