He was predeceased by: his parents, James Ruford Truitt and Dessie Elizabeth McGee Truitt; and his brother Wendell Truitt. He is survived by: his wife Vonda Stallings Truitt; his daughter LeAnn Newsom (Scott); his brothers, Waylon Truitt (Brenda) and Gary Truitt (Myra); and his sister-in-law Cheryl Truitt. He is also survived by Grandchildren and (4) great-grandchildren, Numerous Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.
