He was predeceased by: his parents, James Herbert Short and Bessie Price Short; his brother James F. Short; his grandson Matthew Trace Hanners; and his son-in-law Jimmy Hanners.
He is survived by: his wife Carolyn B. Short of Lineville; his children, Rhonda Hanners of Lineville and David Short (Ashley Thrower) of Lineville; his sister JoAnn Walker (Jim) of Fort Walton Beach, Fla; and his grandchildren, Maggie Hanners (Payton Hornsby) and Mallory Hanners.
FLOWERS WILL BE ACCEPTED BUT THE FAMILY PREFERS DONATIONS BE MADE TO THE "OAK GROVE CEMETERY FUND" in Gerald's memory.
