It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of James E Porter of Lineville, Alabama, born in Indian Mound, Tennessee, who passed away on October 13, 2025, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, William Waverly Porter and Daisy Lee Gilbert Porter; his wife Ruby East Porter; and his brothers, George and Sam Porter.
He is survived by: his children, Carolyn Lee of Pelham, Janie Bean (Gary) of Lineville, Rev. David Porter of Lineville and Dan Porter (Lisa) of Lineville; and his grandchildren, Jason Porter (Jackie), Jerry Porter (Teri), Lisa Griffin, Anna Morrison (Daniel) and Jacob Porter (Misty). He is also survived by several great-grandchildren and other extended family.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Barfield Baptist Church (74 E Mill Rd, Lineville, AL 36266). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location.
