As Joan departs from this earthly realm, her essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Joan may no longer walk beside us, her spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Joan leaves behind.
She was predeceased by: her grandson Coy Messick; her parents, James Coy and Verla Bell Stephens Armstrong; and her brother Jack Armstrong. She is survived by: her children, Johnny Simmons, Jimmy Simmons, Joey Messick (Shelley) and Marie Cook (Johnathan); her grandchildren, Alex Motes and Emily Dorsey; and her sisters, Maryann Richburg and Linda Faye Bowman (Abe). She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
