With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Dixie Mae Ruimveld Hawkinson in Madison, Alabama, who passed away on January 23, 2026 at the age of 77. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her birth parents, Louis Dunn and Barbara Treadway (German); her adoptive father William Ruimveld; her stepfather William Treadway; and her siblings, Michael Ruimveld, William Ruimveld Jr. and Bonnie Ruimveld.
She is survived by: her husband Charles Hawkinson; her daughters, Dr. Heather Mendenhall and Barbara Hawkinson; her grandchildren, Lauren Bonnett, Andrew Bonnett and Addison McLemore; and her great grandchild Kasey Leonardo.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers to instead donate to charity in Dixie Hawkinson's name.
