He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Rufus Davis Collins, Sr. and Kit Meldrymn Collins; his son William Davis Collins; his adoptive children, Jonathan Rufus Collins and Rebecca Leigh Collins; his siblings, Jenny Seigler of Hampton, VA and Richard Collins of Owings, MD; his wife Ethleen Elizabeth Collins; and his children, Christopher Collins and Dorothy Kit Collins. He was also cherished by 7 grandchildren.

The family ask for donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
