Sherry Childress Sampson Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Sherry Childress Sampson of Madison, Alabama, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on July 28, 2025 at the age of 90. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Moody Childress and Jeanne Childress; her husband Robert J. Sampson, Sr.; her sister Charlotte; and her great grandchild Wells Whitworth.
She is survived by: her children, Robert J. Sampson, Jr. (Terry) of Madison, Scott D. Sampson (Elaine) of Huntsville and Sherry Whitworth (Charles) of Madison; her sister Vicki Little of Tennessee; her grandchildren, Matthew Sampson, Kristen Thomas (Chris), David Sampson (Courtney), Taylor Sandlin (Jesse), Hunter Whitworth (Mary Jane), Allison Godwin (Fred), Chase Whitworth (Lindsay), Mark Whitworth and Chad Whitworth (Kelley); and her great grandchildren, Grace Sampson, Abigail Sampson, Benerson Sampson-Little, Cooper Godwin, Landon Godwin, Sutton Whitworth, Maren Whitworth, Meade Whitworth, Miller Whitworth and Tuck Whitworth.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 2nd 2025 from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM at the Church of the Nativity (208 Eustis Ave SE, Huntsville, AL 35801). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 2nd 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
Memorial donations may be made to Church of the Nativity, Episcopal, Wells Clayton Whitworth Foundation, or Huntsville Hospice Family Care.
