He was predeceased by: his wife Dycie Perry Nichols; his parents, Troy B. Nichols and Mattie Era Hopkins Nichols; and his siblings, Betty Faye Mitchell and Clarence Nichols.
He is survived by: his children, Robin Ray (Earl), Marty Nichols, Judy Nichols, Shay Nichols, Jenny Hughey (Bryan) and Jill Fischer (Mike); and his sisters, Martha "Mop" Osbourne of Uniontown, AL and Carolyn Adams of Johnson City, TN. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Ephesus Baptist Church (1400 Ephesus Lp, Marion, AL 36756). A committal service will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 at 12:15 PM at the Ephesus Cemetery (1400 Ephesus Lp, Marion, AL 36756).
