He was predeceased by: his wife Rita Jo Averette; his children, Christopher Ray Averette and Wendy Michelle Averette; his brother Jimmy Wayne Averette; and his parents, Jackson C. Averette and Inez Lagrone Averette.
He is survived by: his children, Elizabeth Robin Averette, Terra Marie Lee (Randy) and Justin Sterling Averette (Shirley); his brothers, Ronnie Lee Averette and Randy Jackson Averette; and his grandchildren, Christopher Tyler Averette, Shelly Nicole Averette, Elizabeth Macy Carpenter, Robert Hunter Carpenter (Kristina), James Chase Carpenter, Jodeci Xavious Billingsley, Jaylon Cole Robichaux, Devin Dynell McKinney (Daneilla), Justin Edward Carter, Brandon Jo Averette, Zackery Lee Averette and McKynzee Renee Averette. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
