She was predeceased by: her parents, Samuel Robert "Bob" and Nina Cochran Joyner (Gaines Carter Owen Sr.); and her son Gaines Carter Owen Jr.. She is survived by: her spouse Gaines Carter Owen Sr.; her sons, Robert Owen (Susan) of Quitman and Todd Owen (Kristen) of Meridian; and her siblings, Jerry Joyner of Raymond, MS and Janet Hitt of Columbia, MS.. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, six great-grand-children.
